Opened in 2011, Aqua Portimão is located at the confluence of the major highways through Portimão. It is the largest shopping center in the western Algarve, a region that is very popular with tourists and is currently seeing a demographic and economic boom.
With a rich retail offering of around fifty exclusive brands (new concepts, local names), Aqua Portimão is the region’s most exciting shopping destination, commanding a catchment area with a 20 kilometer radius. To reflect its dynamic clientele, Aqua Portimão has adopted a resolutely modern design. Its three levels feature abundant greenery and open space, giving pride of place to a superb food court.
The shopping mall also puts on activities, campaigns and events of all kinds for all the family (features 365 days a year, children’s workshops at weekends).

Stories
Success Story
Like other shopping centers, Aqua Portimão hosted the touring exhibition #EUSavesLives on the European Union’s initiatives in the event of natural and humanitarian disasters in Europe and the rest of the world. The exhibition took visitors through the experience of three emergency reponses in the field using virtual reality: visiting a Rohingya refugee camp in Bangladesh, flying over a forest fire in the cockpit of a water bomber, and visiting a school for refugees in Kenya. This immersion in the heart of the action, which aims to bring the EU closer to its people, also served to start a debate on civil protection and the future of the European Union.
